BASS - BARITONE
Born in Lancashire,Tony began acting and singing from an early age. However In order to concentrate on his first chosen career as a designer for Opera he decided to put singing/performing aside for 20 years! However in 2013 he was asked to sing the role of the Learned Judge in "Trial by Jury " as well as directing the work for New Sussex Opera in a site-specific series of performances in Lewes Crown Court.
Another similar opportunity arose in 2014 when Opera Brava invited him to direct "Tosca " and also sing the role of the Sacristan. In 2016 he decided to pursue a career in singing a little more seriously, and had a busy year learning and performing a series of 8 new roles including Don Alfonso "Cosi" ,Bartolo and Antonio "Nozze di Figaro" and Snug "A Midsummer Night's Dream". He has studied singing privately for the last four years, primarily with baritone Grant Doyle.
"For me, though, the show was nearly stolen by Tony Baker’s hilariously funny Judge.....
With a real flair for comic singing, he was a joy to watch".
(Paul Austin Kelly/Sussex Express on "Trial by Jury")
